Research at the Department of Structures:

  • assessment of reliability of load-bearing structures using probabilistic methods;
  • corrosion of steel structures;
  • accurate determination of climatic loads of building structures;
  • experimental tests and numerical analysis of prestressed masonry;
  • mathematical modeling of structures (time-dependent phenomena, non-linear properties of materials, interaction with subsoil);
  • statistical evaluation of structural timber and wood-based materials;
  • monitoring and research in the field of timber structures and footbridges;
  • research on the load-bearing capacity of pin-type timber structures and bonded joints;
  • specific problems in the construction of the Moravian-Silesian Region (undermined areas; constructions in areas with possible floods; remediation; reconstruction and maintenance of large industrial complexes);
  • application of patinating steels in construction practice;
  • behavior of structures in extreme conditions (thermal, fire, deformation or water flow);
  • rehabilitation, reconstruction and strengthening of structures;
