Architecture and urbanism since the 2nd half of 20th century

VSB-TU in Ostrava held on 29th – 30th October 2025. In hall UA2, UA3, UA5 at the Auditorium of VSB - Technical University of Ostrava.
Dear colleagues,
We would like to invite you for the sixteenth time to international and interdisplinary conference dedicated to the architecture and urbanism. The conference will be dealing with the topics of architectural and urban works from the 2nd half of 20th century until today.
The intention of the organizers is to continue the discussion on the relationship of the society to architecture and urbanism. Also representatives of other fields than architecture have the opportunity to submit contributions and open the space for other questions. Therefore it´s possible to post articles from the fields of social sciences, economics, geography, civil engineering and others.
The purpose of the conference is to find and evaluate in the open discussion the current state of knowledge of architecture with the shortest history not only from the perspective of different fields but from the experience from various countries with their diverse development and approach.
The papers will be published in the printed conference proceedings (with ISBN/ISSN) and submitted for indexing in Web of Science and Scopus. Each article, as well as the entire proceedings, will be assigned a unique DOI number.
Expected contributions should relate to the following areas:
- Theory and philosophy of architectural design
- Urbanism and public space
- Court architecture of housing, civil equipment and construction engineering
- Monument care, renovation and conversion of buildings and architectural complexes
- Countryside and rural architecture
- Ecological aspects in architecture
- Trends and technologies in architecture

Note: Refreshments during the conference days and the social evening are provided for all conference participants.
* These items are mandatory and consist of the minimum price (15,000 CZK) for the conference contribution. However, this price can be increased by the length of your paper or the number of standard pages. The price for one standard page is 1 100 CZK.
** The conditions for inclusion of articles in Web of Science require that the paper be presented at a conference (it is a conference proceedings). Without a presentation, the paper will not be published in the proceedings that are submitted to Web of Science for evaluation. In recent years of the conference, there have been excessive requests from presenters for online participation (as a remnant of Covid's measures), but the conference is primarily organized for in-person participation, which allows for networking, collaborations, face-to-face meetings, and discussions. However, we do not wish to prevent those who prefer to participate online from doing so; they will be allowed to do so, but for a fee.

Abstracts of contribution in English language (150 - 250 words) in the prepared word template please send to following address: architekturavperspektive@vsb.cz until 12th May 2025.
Please indicate the inclusion of your paper in one of the above mentioned topics (1-7). The acceptance/non-acceptance report will be sent to you until 20th May 2025. The organizers reserve the right not to accept the proposed paper.
Final texts must be sent no later than 20th August 2025 according to the instructions that you receive by e-mail. Subsequently, there will be a review process provided by the conference organizers and individual communication with participants. Participants must submit the final form of the articles after corrections according to the submitted reviews no later than 30th September 2025. If the reviewer does not recommend the article for publication, in that case the article will be rejected by the organizers.

Abstracts of contribution (maximum 300 words) please send to following address: architekturavperspektive@vsb.cz until 30th August 2025.
Report on the acceptance / rejection of contribution will be sent to you until 14th September 2025.
The conference language will be the language Czech, Slovak, Polish and English language.
The conference will be interpreted using AI, and in case of a large number of international participants, simultaneous in-person interpretation will be provided.
