Reliability of steel support in (long) underground openings
Steel supports represent decisive supporting components used in long workings in the Czech Republic as well as abroad. The steel supports are also often used for securing purposes in underground constructions. The empirical and analytical method has been successfully used in practice in the Czech Republic and turned out to be highly efficient. In spite of the fact that there were many changes in laws and technologies and revolutionary jumps in information systems enabling procedures impossible in the pas to be used at present, this method, however, has not been developed for more than 10 years anymore. Procedures used now have become outdated partly, and, partly, they do not meet conditions they had been originally drawn up for. The objective of this project is to develop and improve the existing empirical and analytical method used for dimensioning of steel supports in long workings, crossings and branches, in conditions of Ostrava-Karvina Collieries, especially, using Monte Carlo simulation.
