The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering is one of the four mathematical departments at VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava. At present we have 17 employees and ensure teaching of mathematical subjects at the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FCE), at the Faculty of Mining and Geology (FMG) and at the Faculty of Safety Engineering (FSE). Research interests are focused on numerical methods and quadratic programming, optimization and control, statistical methods, differential equations and dynamical systems, differential geometry and calculus of variations, and geometric mechanics.
The Department of Mathematics was established at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, in 2018 (formerly a part of the Department of Mathematics and Descriptive Geometry).
