Study programme: Civil Engineering

Specialization: Building Structures

Objectives

The aim of the study in the four-year study programme Civil Engineering is to prepare graduates for activities in all areas of construction activities for which they acquire the relevant theoretical and professional knowledge and skills.
After the first two years of joint study, focusing on theoretical foundations and core vocational subjects, students continue their specializations (Traffic Construction, Geotechnics and Underground Construction, Building Structures, Urban Engineering, Building and Industrial Construction, Building Environment and Building Materials and Building Diagnostics), where they acquire knowledge focused on specific areas of the construction industry and in this area also elaborate their final (bachelor) thesis. The study of specialization, thanks to the previous joint study, allows the student flexibility in the possibility of transition to any field of construction activities.

The aim of the study in the specialization Building Structures is to prepare graduates for all areas of construction activities for which they acquire the relevant theoretical and professional knowledge and skills. After the first two years of joint study, focusing on theoretical background and basic vocational subjects, students continue their field of study in the field of Building Structures, where they acquire knowledge focused on the design, assessment and implementation of steel, concrete, timber and composite structures.

Graduate

A graduate of the Building Structures specialization will be an expert focused on the structural analysis of buildings, the implementation and design of industrial and civil engineering and bridges. The graduate will also have broad knowledge in the area of computational and numerical methods so that he / she can be applied both in design and in the design of algorithms for static calculations, their testing and verification of their correctness. He / she will also be able to work as a developer and consultant for companies developing software for design and assessment of structures or in research organizations in professional positions, where he will be able to create specialized computational algorithms for numerical modeling of special problems. The graduate will have the knowledge necessary for the follow-up master's degree in study programs focused on statics, dynamics and engineering constructions.
