The Summer School of Structural Engineering and Mechanics
The Summer School of Structural Engineering and Mechanics offers a unique opportunity for students to develop their ‘engineering’ skills at an international level and enjoy the summer in the beautiful city of Ostrava.
This course explores the numerous aspects of Structural Engineering and Mechanics, focusing on design of steel, concrete, timber and composite structures and bridges and degradation processes of structures. The course provides students with practical knowledge of fundamental materials, structural behaviour, and the design and construction of a structure.
This 5 day-long course is coordinated by the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava. The course instructors are selected from the faculty members of the Department of Structures, Department of Structural Mechanics and Centre of Building Experiments. Students will be given the necessary theoretical background during the courses and will gain hand-on experience via laboratory practices and field trips to various structures.
